The Georgia Industry Association has various committees design to better serve our members by going in-depth on specific issues that affect industry and manfacturing. Having a representative from each member company involved on one or more of our committees ensures that all of our members can voice their opinions and assist in the association's decision-making process.. Since GIA belongs to its members, everyone should take an active part in the Associaton's business.

Competitiveness & Trade...Jim Jones, Chairman.
Environmental...James McClatchey, Chairman. The purpose of�the Environmental Committee is to evaluate the impact of industry on proposed legislation and administrative rules; to recommend appropriate action to Assocation Staff and Board of Directors; to sponsor, when needed, educational seminars and workshops on the subject of environmental protection; and to consider methods and programs�or recognizing members for achievements in environmental protection.
Government Affairs...Brian Johnstone, Chairman. The purpose of the Government Affairs Committee is to plan activities and programs for Legilative members; To promote better cooperation between Associate and members; and to promote membership in the Association.
Human Resources...Albert Brannen, Chairman. The purpose of the Human Resources Committee is to confer and exchange ideas on critical issues in the industry concerning workers compensation, health insurance cost containment, wage and benefit surveys and other employment law and regulation; to communicate with the Association membership and staff about the status of these issues and to prepare recommendations when a legislative measure demands review and response; to sponsor educational seminars or workshops dealing with human resource issues; and to consider methods and programs for recognizing members for human resource achievements.
Membership...Chris Downing, Chairman. The purpose of the Membership Committee is to recruit new members and help retain existing members; to provide orientation for new members; to encourage committee participation with new members; to recognize individuals for outstanding contributions to the Association; and to gather statistical data concerning the industry.
Taxation... Richard Kopelman, Chairman. the purpose of the Taxation Committee is to monitor and report on developments in tax laws and regulations affecting the industry; to specifically study and monitor severance tax activity and to communicate the industrys position in this area to legislators and concerned agencies.
Insurance/HealthCare...Jason Peacock, Chairman.The purpose of the Insurance/Healthcare committee is to stay in tune with the legislative and economical issues that affect the insurance marketplace and to educate the GIA membership on the changes and trends that will impact their insurance programs.
Public Relations Committee...The purpose of the Public Relations Committee is to develop and assist in implementing specific projects or activities aimed at improving the understanding and appreciation of the industry by the general public, lawmakers, regulators, the media and others.
Safety Committee...The Purpose of the Safety Committee is to monitor OSHA activity and assist Association staff in keeping members informed of the status of mine safety and health laws and regulations; to communicate with OSHA and the Department of Labor in making recommendations when proposed regulation calls for review and comment; to sponsor, when needed, educational seminars and workshops dealing with the subject of mine, safety and health; and to consider methods and programs for recognizing members for achievements in safety and health.
The Nominating Committee...The Nominating Committee is charged with recommending to the General Membership at the annual meeting nominees for the post of Directors for a three year term,which shall be appointed by the President. This committee shall also recommend to the Board of Directors a slate of officers for the annual election.
